Avoid the app-trap

Some alarm systems require users to download and use a special application to remotely control and monitor their systems via a cell phone. People with DMP alarm systems can skip the app trap by using a function found on every cell phone: Text Messaging.

Sure, apps are fun if you have time on your hands, but anyone who’s ever sent a text knows that it’s simple, fast, and reliable. There’s no delay waiting for an app to load and run. Some alarm system apps take nearly a minute to load and connect. With text messaging, customers are connected within a few seconds and can interact with their panel immediately.

Even at the edge of coverage areas, when phone calls may be dropped and apps don’t work, text messages usually get through. Text messages are simple and compact, giving customers a more reliable link to their panel, no matter where they are.

Only about 30% of cell phones today have the ability to use apps, but every cellphone has text capability. That means more customers and their family members can control their DMP systems from their phone.

Alarm apps typically pass through some intermediate communication and processing links, any of which can slow the app or cause it to fail. With text messages, customers have a direct, cellular link to their panel. Fewer opportunities for security breaches. Less chance for communication problems.
