Mitel Goes Deep on Mobility

The importance of mobility in unified communications has been widely recognized, however few vendors have really built a significant lead. While the big vendors have been making the biggest noise, the most interesting developments seem to be coming out of the smaller vendors. A good case in point is Mitel, which has a mobility line up that is as deep as the majors and includes some capabilities that really separate them from the pack.

Mitel has been moving forward with mobility on a number of fronts including their Dynamic Extension, Unified Communicator Advanced, integration with BlackBerry Mobile Voice System (MVS) 5.1, as well as a unique capability to leverage cell phone location with presence. They also offer both voice over wireless LAN (VoWLAN) and DECT solutions for in-building mobility.

Is There a Gap in Your Mass Notification System Plan?

Check with your cell providers to make sure they aren’t blocking your SMS/text alerts.

It appears that major, regional and independent carriers (like Sprint, Verizon, regional carriers and pre-paid providers), appear to be flagging mass notification messages as potential spam, or “alert” (short code) messages, and either disabling (blocking), delaying or denying SMS/text transmissions to some or all of their cellular subscribers. These are the folks who are subscribing to your mass warning alert messaging system.

Telenet VoiP receives lead-based painting certification from the Environmental Protection Agency.


The United States Environmental Protection Agency has certified that Telenet VoiP has fulfilled the requirements of the Toxic Substances Control Act Section 402, and has received certification to conduct lead-based paint renovation, repair, and painting activities pursuant to 40 CFR Part 745.89.

The covered facilities include residential, public or commercial  buildings where children under age six are present on a regular basis as well as all rental housing.
